Bernard A. “Bunny” Keating

April 5, 1935  –  January 3, 2026

Bernard A. “Bunny” Keating, 90, of Hagerstown, MD passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, MD.

Bernard was born on April 5, 1935 in Cumberland, MD to the late Thomas Patrick and Margaret Ann (Lorditch) Keating.

He was a graduate of LaSalle High School in Cumberland, MD before enlisting in the U.S Army and serving during the Korean War.

Bernard worked for the Allegany Ballistics Laboratory prior to working as a Lathe Operator for Mack Truck in Hagerstown, MD until his retirement in 1990.

He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Hagerstown, MD and attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He was also a member of several clubs and organizations including: Knights of Columbus 1442 Frostburg, MD, IORM Tribe # 84 Williamsport, MD, Eagle’s Club Waynesboro, PA, NRA, Potomac Post 202 American Legion Williamsport, MD, and UAM Local 171 Hagerstown, MD.

In his earlier years he was an avid drag racer and later enjoyed restoring and selling classic Chevrolet cars.

Bernard is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Phyllis C. (Livengood) Keating whom he married on December 23, 1959; 2 daughters Tina M. Wolfensberger (Richard) and Julie A Slusarz; grandchildren: Justin Hamilton (Maggie), David Starleper (Katie), Paige Culler (Zach), Joseph Wolfensberger, Riley Wolfensberger, Colby Slusarz, Mason Wolfensberger; great grandchildren: Johan Starleper, Phoenix Starleper, Colt Culler; 3 sisters: Mary Alice Heiger, Margaret Ann Keating, Ruth Noreen Lewis; 2 brothers: Thomas P. Keating, Jr. (Genevia) and Leo F. Keating (Susan); numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 daughters Sharon A. Gay and Karen M. Ridenour; granddaughter Kelsey L. Ridenour; brother William Keating.

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home, P.A. 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. The funeral home will be open starting at 9:00 am on Wednesday for the convenience of family and friends. Prayers will be offered at 6:00 pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church 224 W. Washington St. Hagerstown, MD on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 10:30 am with Rev. Father James Boric Celebrant.

Interment will take place in Rocky Gap Veteran’s Cemetery 14205 Pleasant Valley Rd. NE Flintstone, MD 21530 on Thursday at 1:00 pm
