Gerald P. Keating

HAMPTON – Retired U.S. Army Sergeant 1st Class Gerald Paul Keating, 61, died Wednesday, May 24, in his home.

A native of Rochester, N.Y., Mr. Keating was a Peninsula resident for 30 years and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hampton.

In 1976 he retired from the Army after 21 years He subsequently retired as distribution clerk from the U.S. Postal Service in 1981 after 13 years service.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia H. Keating; five daughters, Julie Guidera of Titusville, Fla., Mary Boguslaw of Lexington, Ky., Patricia Keating of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, Jo Anne Keating and Katherine Keating, both of Hampton; one sister, Mary Swanton of Fairport, N.Y.; one brother, Eugene Keating of Rochester, N.Y.; and nine grandchildren.

A graveside service with military honors will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Hampton National Cemetery, Hampton section, by the Rev. Gerard E. Powers.

The family will be at the residence.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Buckroe Beach Rescue Squad, Hampton 23664.
