JOHN V. KEATING

John V. Keating, 76, of Pine Bluff, formerly of El Dorado, died on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009.

He was born on Jan. 22, 1933, in El Dorado, the son of Vernon and Virginia Keating. He was reared and educated in Union County, having attended Quinn schools before leaving to join the United States Navy Reserve and then later the United States Air Force, from which he retired in 1973.

A member of Dollarway Baptist Church, he later worked for Pinkerton Security and as a security guard for Weyerhaeuser in Pine Bluff.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Ruth Benson, Mary Spahni, Betty Barker and Nelda Stringfellow.

Survivors include two sisters, Minnie Spahni of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Ginny Hathhorn of Loudon, Tenn.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Fuller Hale-South Funeral Chapel in Pine Bluff with Bro. Eddie Harrison officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors.

Mr. Keating will lie in state until 5 p.m. on Monday. Formal visitation will be at 10 a.m. until service time on Tuesday.
