Geography – Keatings Lagoon, Australia

In the northeast corner of Australia lies Keating’s Lagoon. The lagoon is about 5km (3 miles) from Cooktown and is designated a tropical wetland. Graham Keating writes that it is named after a Keating family who settled in the area.

The Australian Government has a page with some information on it.

  1. Further to my 2006 query, I wonder if anyone knows how ex-PM Paul Keating’s ancestors were related to Chapmans of Co. Wexford? I note some Keatings were in Baldwinstown which is very close of my Chapman ancestors.
