Obituary: Thomas Fischer


1949 – 2017

Thomas J. Fischer, 68, of Bethlehem [PA], died Tuesday, January 24, 2017, in Cedarbrook Fountain Hill. He was the husband of Marybeth (Keating) Fischer. They celebrated their 40th anniversary in August. Born in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late Bernard and Helen (Check) Fischer. A graduate of Lehigh University and Villanova University School of Law, Thomas remained a dedicated Lehigh alumni throughout the years. He was employed as an attorney by Legal Aid Services for seven years before going into private practice in 1980. Thomas was a member of Notre Dame Catholic Church and formerly Ss. Simon and Jude Church. He sang with the Concord Chamber Singers and in various church choirs. He belonged to the Emery Track and Field Association. Survivors: Wife, Marybeth; son, Paul of Bethlehem; daughters, Catherine and Stephanie, both of Bethlehem; brothers, Gregory of Las Vegas, NV and Raymond (Terese) of Bethlehem; sisters, Susan Dever of Pleasanton, CA and Ellen Marx of Bethlehem; nieces and nephews. Services: Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 30, in Notre Dame Church, 1865 Catasauqua Road, Bethlehem. Family and friends may call Sunday, January 29, from 6 – 8 p.m. in the Pearson Funeral Home, 1901 Linden Street, Bethlehem.
