Tryout of Boat has Tragic End

Toledo (INS) – Lawrence Billet of Toledo drowned in Maumee Bay late Tuesday when the boat he was trying out on a fishing trip capsized.

His two companions, Joseph Reidenhauser – a city patrolman and owner of the boat Billet wanted to buy – and Alfred Keating, 53, were rescued.

The three were in the 16—foot outboard motor boat a quarter mile off shore when the boat overturned.

Witnesses on shore saw the boat tip over and called the Coast Guard.

Rescuers found Reidenhauser swimming to shore and Keating clinging to the overturned craft.
