George Caton, Sr.

George Caton, Sr., a Civil War veteran and one of the best known farmers of Preston county, W. Va., died at the home of his son, George A. Caton, of Clifton Mills, W. Va., Thursday. He was 79 years of age.

Mr. Caton was born and lived all his life in Clifton Mills, engaging in farming. Mr. Caton was a member of the Grand Army and of the Brethren church of Salem, W. Va.

Mr. Caton is survived by his widow Susanne Caton and the following children, William Caton, of Uniontown; Simon Caton, of Hagerstown, Md.; George Caton, Jr., of Clifton Mills; Mrs. Bessie Gardner, of Uniontown; Newton J. Caton, of Pittsburgh and Mrs. Evelyn Harader, of Clifton Mills, W. Va.

Funeral services will be held at the Salem, W. Va., Brethren church Sunday morning. Burial will be in the Salem cemetery.
