SALISBURY, Pa. – Doris Elizabeth Pope, 73, of Salisbury, died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2007 at her residence.

Born Jan. 9, 1934, in Frostburg, Md., she was the daughter of the late Stanley Edward and Helen (Hoye) Weimer. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Joseph William Weimer, Cumberland, Md.; and a sister, Mary Theresa Brannon, Mt. Savage, Md.

Mrs. Pope was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, West Salisbury, St. Michael’s Altar Society and Salisbury Firemen’s Auxiliary. Mrs. Pope was a Christian mother to St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Avilton, Md. for a few years. Doris was a CCD teacher at St. Michael Church. She was a graduate of the class of 1953, Catholic Girls Central, Cumberland. She was a babysitter for some wonderful children, especially her grandson, Michael Ringler.

Surviving are her husband, Eugene Francis Pope, whom she married on June 18, 1960; two sons, George Edward Pope and wife, Tracy, Springs and Patrick Eugene Pope and wife, Missy, Martinsburg, W.Va.; two daughters, Winifred “Winnie” Ringler and husband, Harry “Cork”, Salisbury and Christine Angela Upole and husband, Robert “Bud”, Deer Park, Md.; four brothers, Stanley Leo Weimer and wife, Rose, Gettysburg, Robert Weimer and wife, Doris, Essex, Md., Ronald Vincent Weimer and wife, Virginia, Frostburg and Thomas Francis Weimer and wife, Claire, Avilton; a sister, Helen Maureen Miller and husband, Glenn, Pocahontas; two grandchildren, Joshua Pope and Michael Ringler.

Friends will be received at Newman Funeral Home, Inc., 9168 Mason-Dixon Hwy., Salisbury on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Christian Wake will be held on Tuesday at 3:45 p.m. in the funeral home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Michael’s Catholic Church on Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2007 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Albert J. Anselmi officiating.

Interment will be in the St. Michael’s Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may be directed to In Touch Hospice, the Salisbury Firemen’s Auxiliary or St. Michael’s Altar Society.
