Kenneth J. “Red” Keating
Kenneth J. “Red” Keating, age 83 of Winsted, died Wednesday, Feb. 28 at Ridgeview Medical Center, Waconia.
“Dearest husband, father, grandpa. . . Dad was the most loving, truest and loyal husband, father and grandpa ever.
“After serving in W.W. II, Dad became part-owner of Keating Hardware of Winsted, where he and Clancy Campbell specialized in home interiors.
“Dad was a star athlete at Holy Trinity High School, St. Thomas and at the University of Minnesota. He played on many amateur state tournament teams and helped lead Winsted to a state championship in amateur baseball.
“Dad’s greatest achievements were his extreme nurturing love of his family, where he touched all of his children’s and grandchildren’s lives, attending many, many athletic games and other events. Dad’s motto would be the song ‘Take Me Out to the Ball Game.’
“Dad, you’re the Greatest  Love always. You will be truly missed by your family and friends.”
Survivors include his wife, Delvina “Del” Keating; children: Carole (Jerry) Otto of Winsted, Susan (John) Bleifuss of Eden Prairie, Kenneth (Julie) Keating Jr. of Monroe, Wash., Timothy (Joy) Keating of Eagan, and Michael (Mary) Keating of Minnetonka; grandchildren: Suzette (Dean) Neumann, Phillip (Darcy) Otto, Julene (Chris) Claus, Beth Otto and Eve (Mace) Phutzenreuter; Brigid (Alex) Scott; Stephanie, Angie and Scott Keating; Kyle Miller, Aaron Miller, Vanessa Keating, Corrie Keating and Kaylin Keating; Stephanie Keating, Ryan Keating, Matthew Keating and Casey Keating; and great-grandchildren: Alex, Christopher, Callie, Katie, Mac, Madeline, Jake, Rachel and Claire.
He is further survived by a brother, John M. (Margaret) Keating Jr. of Winsted; a sister, Rosemary Richie of Minnetonka; and many other relatives and friends.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, John H. and Mabel (Bowlus) Keating Sr.; an infant niece, Kathleen Keating; and nephews, Bobby Richie and Patrick Keating.
A concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial for Kenneth J. “Red” Keating was held on Monday, March 5, at 10:30 a.m., at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Winsted. Father Paul L. Wolf, Father Ambrose J. Mahon, and Father Gerald E. Keefe were the concelebrants. Interment with military rites by American Legion Post #407 followed at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
Lavon Kielkucki provided special music for the Mass. Stephanie Keating, Ryan Keating, Matthew Keating, Phillip Otto, Brigid Scott, Suzette Neumann, Kyle Miller and Bruce Howe served as the casket bearers.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
