<p>Frostburg—John D. Pape, 77, of Parkersburg Road, died yesterday shortly after being admitted to Frostburg Community Hospital.</p>
<p>Born in Eckhart, he was a son of the late William T. and Mary Ethel (Holsinger) Pape. Mr. Pape was a veteran of World War I and was a member of Farrady Post 24, American Legion.</p>
<p>Surviving are his widow, Eleanor (Niner) Pape; four daughters, Mrs. Lenore Keating, Bean&#8217;s Cove, Pa.; Mrs. Anita Winners, Essex, Md.; Mrs. Hilda Lambert, Baltimore, and Mrs. Edith Copenhaver, Joppa, Md.; seven sons, Clement, LeRoy, and Thomas Pape, all of Baltimore; William and Patrick Pape, both of Washington; Ralph Pape, Eckhart, John Pape, of Wayne, Mich.; 40 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.</p>
<p>The body is at the Hafer-Sowers Funeral Home where friends will be received today from 7 to 9 p.m. and tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.</p>
<p>Services will be conducted at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Saturday by Rev. Clarence A. Kaylor. Interment will be in St. Michael&#8217;s Cemetery.</p>
<p>Military rites will be accorded a graveside by Farrady Post 24, American Legion.</p></blockquote>

<p>JOSEPH J KEATING FROSTBURG &#8212; Joseph John Keating, 88, of Frostburg, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001, at his residence. Born Dec. 5, 1912, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late John W. and Mary Ellen (Winner) Keating. Mr. Keating also was preceded in death by five brothers, Thomas Keating, Charles Keating, Leo Keating, John Keating and James Keating; three sisters, Julia Clites, Delores Wolfe and Ursula Reburn who died Jan. 3, 2001; and two infant granddaughters, Caitlin and Larkin Keating. Mr. Keating was retired as a police sergeant for the Maryland Dept. of Natural Resources. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater from 1943 to 1945. He was a lifelong member of St. Michael&#8217;s Catholic Church, Frostburg. He was ordained a Deacon in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Baltimore on Dec. 8, 1978, and he was awarded the Archdiocesan Medal of Honor by the Most Rev. P. Francis Murphy in 1994. He also was a member of the Farrady Post 24 American Legion and Knights of Columbus Council 1442, Frostburg. Mr. Keating is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Louise (Larkin) Keating; one daughter, Mary Anne Trent, Hagerstown; three sons, Joseph Keating and wife Sheila, Frostburg, Patrick Keating, Washington, D.C., and Gerald Keating and wife Andrea, Clarksville; six grandchildren, Katie Trent, Kacey Trent, Rachel Keating, Hannah Keating, Matthew Keating and Madelaine Keating; one step-grandson, Bryan Weimer; two sisters, Mary Amann, LaVale, and Agnes Knepper, Chambersburg, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home Friday at 8:30 p.m. by members of the Knights of Columbus 1442. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael&#8217;s Catholic Church on Saturday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Father William Moody as celebrant. Interment will be in the St. Michael&#8217;s Parish Cemetery, Frostburg. Military honors will be accorded at graveside by members of the Farrady Post 24 Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the W.M.H.S. Hospice Home Care, 3-North, 905 Seton Drive, Cumberland, MD 21502.</p>
