Winchester, Va, June 20 - The intense heat of the past few days reached its highest mark to-day, when the mercury registered 97, and two men were overcome. Hugh B. Striker, employed on the city waterworks, fell over while pouring hot metal in a pipe joint, and William Keating was overcome on a tin roof. Both are under a doctor’s care. Rain this evening caused a fall in temperatures.
