Donald W. Keating

Major Donald W. Keating, formerly of Elyria, and son of Mrs. Thelma Keating, Butternet Ridge Rd., was notified recently of his promotion to lieutenant colonel in the United States Air Force, effective July 15.

Keating, a rated command pilot and veteran of more than 20 years service, is operations officer assigned to the 18th Fighter Interceptor Squadron at Grand Forks Air Force Base, N. D. He completed his pilot training in 1943 and has flown in many fighter and bomber aircraft including the B-17, F-86D, F-102A and B-66. He is presently flying the F-101 “Voodoo” jet aircraft, with which the squadron is equipped.

Major Keating, a 1939 graduate of Elyria High School, is married and has two sons. He and his family live at the Grand Forks Air Base in North Dakota.
